Toilet Paper Moisteners: Gel, Foam Or Spray? Which One To Choose?

Toilet Paper Moisteners: Gel, Foam Or Spray? Which One To Choose?

The latest trend in personal hygiene – bottom hygiene is gaining momentum. More and more adults are using wet wipes or toilet paper moisteners to be clean, healthy and get rid of skid marks on white underwear, because good hygiene is always sexy. Although “flushable” towelettes are convenient to use, they wreak havoc on the environment. That’s because these sheets can contain non-biodegradable materials such as polyester and polypropylene. Lawmakers are already planning to ban wet wipes in the UK and EU in the near future so let’s focus on sustainable options.

What is toilet paper moistener?

Toilet paper moisteners are gels, foams or scented water sprays that you can apply to regular toilet tissue to clean colon area and skin & hair around it after taking number 2. There are many options on the market, starting from the mass market sprays like Etiquette to high quality gels sold in pharmacies like SATU laboratory. Which one is right for you depends a lot on your needs and budget. Here is a short overview of advantages and disadvantages of different types of products.

Foams

Foams advantages are that they are easy to use and moderately priced. The biggest problems according to Amazon customers are the wetness of the foam, that causes many/most toilet papers to come apart even when using substantially more paper than normal and difficulty of applying just the right amount as anyone who has used shaving foams knows.

Gels

Gels main advantages are the great pores cleaning abilities and content that doesn’t wet the paper as much as sprays, so there is a smaller risk of fingers going through paper when wiping. The downside is that quality costs, they are not the cheapest option out there.

Sprays

Sprays biggest advantage is that there are many options on the market to choose between and that sprays are by far the cheapest solution. Main disadvantage based on customer reviews are that sprays squirt out slightly bubbly liquid that instantly soaks through the paper, causing it to completely fall apart during use, some people call it just a scented water. Also money spent on toilet paper will grow significantly because you must use a lot of paper or else there will be huge mess later.

So next time you have diarrhea, hemorrhoids, dry skin, no shower nearby or want to feel sexy know that there are many options on the market that have smaller environmental impact than so called „flushable“ wet wipes.
